Apply for Aid

8 steps to apply for financial aid for college

Texas Wesleyan is here to help you make your undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees more affordable. Follow these easy steps to apply for financial aid. If you have a question, contact our financial aid office at 817-531-4420 or financialaid@txwes.edu.

Texas Wesleyan reserves the right to reduce or cancel the amount of institutional/state funds awarded to students who receive other scholarship assistance, grant assistance including athletic or departmental aid, institutional waivers or other benefits that are designated to cover tuition, fees, room, and board.

Are you a returning student?

As a returning TXWES student, you'll still need to follow the financial aid application process. Instead of applying to the university, we'll just check to make sure you meet the renewal requirements for any university aid previously awarded.

1. Apply to TXWES

The first step to applying for financial aid is to apply to Texas Wesleyan University. That also means turning in your transcripts, test scores and any other application requirements.

Your application to the university tells us which university scholarship you qualify for. You're applying to TXWES and applying for scholarships. Now, that's a two-for-one deal.

2. Submit the FAFSA

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA determines your Student Aid Index (SAI) which is what the Office of Financial Aid uses to determine your aid eligibility.

  1. Make sure you put our school code on it. Texas Wesleyan's school code is 003645.
  2. You'll need the following items handy:
    • Verified account username and password (FSA ID)
    • Parent or spouse contributors name, date of birth, Social Security number, and email address
    • Income and asset information (if required)
  3. If you don't an FSA ID, you'll need to create an account

Are you a graduate student?

As a graduate student, there a couple of things to keep in mind as you fill out the FAFSA.

  1. All graduate students eligible for aid are offered a $20,500 Federal Unsubsidized Loan.
  2. Students registered for 9 or more credit hours each semester are considered full-time while students registered for 5 to 8 credit hours each semester are considered half-time.
  3. Students must be enrolled in at least 5 credit hours to receive their $20,500 Federal Unsubsidized Loan.
3. Review your FAFSA Submission Summary

After your FAFSA is submitted and processed, you can access your FAFSA Submission Summary. To view it online, login to your StudentAid.gov account Dashboard, select your processed FAFSA submission from the "My Activity" section, and select "View FAFSA Submission Summary".

Your FAFSA Submission Summary summarizes the information you reported on the FAFSA. It includes your estimated eligibility for a Federal Pell Grant and Federal Student Loans. It also includes your Student Aid Index (SAI), and whether you have been selected for verification.

Review your FAFSA Submission Summary to make sure everything is correct. If you find a mistake, you will need to correct or update your FAFSA.

4. Submit required documents

TXWES Financial Aid Office uses Campus Logic to collect additional documents that you may need to submit so we can create your Financial Aid Offer and release aid.

Step 1. Students who have filed a FAFSA and have been accepted to TXWES will need to create a Campus Logic account by using this portal link https://txwes.studentforms.com/

Step 2. Students and Parents need to create separate accounts.  You will be creating e-signatures, which cannot be shared.

Step 3. When creating your account, you must use the legal name that was used on the FAFSA.  Failure to do this will result in Campus Logic not being able to verify your identity for account creation.

5. Understand your offer letter

You've applied for college and financial aid — now what? You're going to get an offer letter that tells you what financial aid you're being offered and how to accept it. This could be a mixture of scholarships, grants, loans and work-study.

6. Report outside scholarship aid

The Office of Financial Aid must be informed of all aid you are receiving from outside sources. You must report any other source of assistance, like financial assistance from your employer or external scholarships, that you will be receiving. The Office of Financial Aid will include this in your financial aid offer as Other Financial Assistance (OFA).

7. Accept your financial aid offer

You can accept your financial aid offer online by visiting your Ramlink account. You'll log in using your TXWES username and password.

Look under the "Financial Aid" section. Make sure you are in the correct aid year. All grants and scholarships are already accepted on your behalf. You can accept or decline your loans here. Remember, whatever amount you accept is split half for fall and half for spring. If you would like a lower loan amount offered to you or want to make any sort of change to your loan amount, reach out to the Office of Financial Aid directly for a Loan Adjustment Form.

8. I've accepted my aid – now what?

You accepted your financial aid — Woohoo! You're coming to Texas Wesleyan — Sweet!

After you register for classes, sign up for a payment plan or pay your bill in full by the stated deadline so that you can head into the semester with a financial plan in place!

What if I don't qualify for the FAFSA?

The Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) is used to collect information to help determine eligibility for state financial aid programs that are administered by institutions of higher education in the state of Texas. Students that are classified as a Texas Resident who cannot apply for federal financial aid using the FAFSA are encouraged to complete the TASFA.
