The 18th Annual Wesleyan/TCC Jazz Festival, a day-long competition and concluding concert for high school music students and supporters, will take place Saturday, May 10. Professional jazz baritone saxophonoe player and flutist Denis Diblasio, director of the jazz program at Rowan University in New Jersey, will be the featured solo artist.
During the day, some twenty high school jazz bands from across Texas will participate in a tightly-contested performance competitions, adjudicated by area jazz professionals. The competition will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Tarrant County College South Campus (TCC South.)
That evening a concluding concert and awards ceremony will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Martin Hall.
Festival coordinators are Lou Carfa, John Fisher and Adrian Bumgarner from Texas Wesleyan, and Rick Stitzel from TCC South.
