Greater Fort Worth Community Band
Sun, Oct 27, 2013, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Martin Hall

The Greater Fort Worth Community Band is the result of a cooperative effort by longtime Birdville ISD employees and friends, Dee Tucker and Henry Schraub. At the Texas Bandmaster's Convention in 2004 he approached his former fine arts director about forming a local band with Schraub as the conductor and Tucker serving as President of the Board. It was immediately obvious that something special was going to happen!

From an initial membership of 50, the band has grown to 84 musicians and draws from a myriad of professions such as banking, law enforcement, programming, nursing, medicine, and teaching. With a number of active and retired band directors and private teachers also performing, the level of performance has been outstanding. Texas Wesleyan University and its band director, Christine Beason, have been invaluable to the GFWC Band's success. Through a cooperative venture several Wesleyan students perform with the group for partial lab credit.

This concert will be held in Martin Hall. Admission is free and open to the general public.
