Dr. Nichols, a Texas Wesleyan alumnus, enjoys the interaction with students that small class sizes at the university allows. “I like the opportunity to learn from students and the feeling that actual learning is going on, rather than just being a talking head to a class of 100 people.”

He has been teaching at Texas Wesleyan since 2007. “I want to be more than a teacher, but be a facilitator for learning. I feel the students are adults coming to us with a thirst for knowledge and professors are there to help them get that knowledge.”

With his research focus in leadership, Dr. Nichols’ favorite class is the graduate-level organizational behavior class that he offers in seminar style. “We all read articles each week and then sit around and talk about them. This format allows for learning about each other, and it takes theories and applies them to everyday life. It is usually a lively class with a lot of learning (academically and practically) going on.”

Dr. Nichols loves the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. He reads a lot and considers himself an ardent fan of the Cowboys and Rangers. He enjoys playing video games and “acting like a kid” with his daughter, nieces, and nephews.
