Summer Reading Clinic

reading clinicEnhancing Literacy Comprehension

The Texas Wesleyan Reading Clinic is designed and taught by Master of Education students who are working on a reading specialist degree.

Teachers will conduct both formal and informal assessments on each child, then plan appropriate literacy lessons to meet their needs.

Young children will work on beginning phonics and reading readiness skills, build comprehension and develop a love for books and reading. Older students will learn to read independently, learn sight words, build comprehension and gain the skills and confidence necessary for success in school. Students that are ready will also work on developing reading fluency and decoding skills.

All students will have many opportunities for creative and responsive writing.
