Practicum Hours

What are practicum hours?

  • The LPC and the LMFT programs at Texas Wesleyan require practicum hours, which are hands-on experience hours, to complete the programs. Our practicum hours allow for both on-campus and off-campus experience.

Where do I complete my hours?

  • On campus hours are completed at the Glick House, Texas Wesleyan’s community counseling center, and off-campus hours are tailored to your specialty, like, for example, in a hospital setting.

How many hours do I need?

  • Professional counseling students need 350 hours – which account for the last two hours of the program, and Marriage & Family Therapy students need 525 hours – the last three classes of the program. Want to complete both programs? You will also complete 525 hours.

When do I complete my practicum?

  • You’ll work with a faculty member to develop your practicum hours, which you will complete at the end of the program.

Are these the same hours as the 3,000 hours required by the state?
