DENTON, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (1-4) suffered a 3-0 loss at Texas Woman’s University (4-6) on Wednesday.
In game one, the Lady Rams trailed 19-15 before using a pair of kills and a pair of Pioneer errors to close the gap to 20-19. That one point margin held at 24-23 before Texas Woman’s finished off the game 25-23.
The Pioneers led game two 15-13 when they used a 10-2 run to close out the game 25-15. In game three the Lady Rams scored five straight points to tie the game at 16. Texas Woman’s later used a 3-0 run to gain control at 24-20 before closing out the match with a 25-21 win.
Kristen Venhuizen paced Texas Wesleyan with six kills and 13 digs. Devin Warren added six kills against just one error to go with three blocks, while Evoni Darling contributed a double-double with 20 assists and 11 digs.
The Lady Rams will return to action in this weekend’s Lubbock Christian University tournament. They will open play on Friday with a match against Concordia University Nebraska at 3:00 p.m. before taking on 15th ranked LCU at 7:00 p.m. |
