FORT WORTH, TX: For the second straight week, Texas Wesleyan University’s Katy Houchin has been awarded the Red River Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award. Houchin received the award for her performance during the week of Sep. 7-13.
Houchin, a sophomore goalkeeper from Temple, TX, captured the award with a 5-3 victory over Oklahoma City University. She faced nine shots on goal and provided six saves as Texas Wesleyan recorded its best start in school history at 5-0. She also had eight saves in a 2-0 loss at Texas Women's University.
UT-Brownsville’s Leah Russell received the RRAC Offensive award. Russell, a freshman forward from Oakville, Ontario, Canada, registered a hat trick in the Scorpions' 8-2 victory over NCAA opponent, Texas A&M International University.
The Lady Rams will return to action on Friday, when they travel to Chickasha, OK, to take on the University of Science & Arts (OK). That game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start. |
