SHAWNEE, OK:  The 24th ranked Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (7-1) took a 3-1 win on the road against St. Gregory’s University (2-4) on Saturday.

After suffering their first loss of the season on Friday, the Rams bounced right back on Saturday.

The Cavaliers got on the board first with a goal from Alex Guerrero in the 19th minute, and then nearly made it 2-0, but Joakim Soderbaum stopped a penalty kick.  Miguel Arreguin answered with a goal off an assist from Leo Cubrilo just minutes later at 23:16.

The Rams put the game away in the second half.  Adis Druzanovic scored the game-winner unassisted in the 59th minute.  Theo Nabassi added an insurance goal just 50 seconds later.

St. Gregory’s outshot Texas Wesleyan 13-10.  Soderbaum (4-0) made eight saves in the win, while Brock Vorwald stopped four shots for the Cavaliers.

“We put ourselves in a bad spot by playing from behind early,” commented head coach Josh Gibbs, “but we really responded and played a complete game.  We were dangerous all day today.”

The Rams will return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Siloam Springs, AR, to take on John Brown University in their final non-conference tilt before opening RRAC play.  That game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m.
