SHAWNEE, OK: The 22nd ranked Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team (6-2) took a 2-0 win on the road against St. Gregory’s University (2-3) on Saturday.
The Lady Rams controlled play from start to finish, outshooting the Cavaliers 19-2 in the game.
After playing to a scoreless draw in the first half, Texas Wesleyan’s Jaimie Romaguera found the net in the second half. The senior midfielder scored in the 63rd minute and again in the 65h minute.
Goalkeeper Katy Houchin (6-2) made two saves to complete her fourth shutout of the season. Meanwhile, Romaguera took the team lead with six goals on the season.
“We had a slow start,” commented head coach Josh Gibbs, “but we dominated every minute today. They defended with a lot of numbers behind the ball, but we still finished and got a win on the road.”
The Lady Rams will return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Siloam Springs, AR, to take on John Brown University in their final non-conference contest before opening RRAC play. That game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start. |
