LADY RAMS PICK UP TWO
September 26, 2009

 

FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (7-10, 2-1 RRAC) won a pair of matches on Saturday, defeating Jarvis Christian College (2-9, 0-1 RRAC) three sets to none (25-7, 25-12, 25-9) before taking a win from Texas College (3-7, 0-3 RRAC) in three sets (25-4, 25-4, 25-13).

 

The Lady Rams and Lady Bulldogs battled through the first part of the first set as two Jarvis kills from Eriele Johnson and a Wesleyan error tied the game at six. The Lady Rams then proceeded to score at will, rattling off 12 straight points to take a 25-7 win over the Lady Bulldogs. The Rams continued to dominate taking a 25-12 second set before taking the match in a 25-9 third set rout over Jarvis.

 

Leaders for the Lady Rams included Brittney Person, who led all players with 14 kills and had a remarkable .545 hitting percentage. Person also put down three service aces and three digs. Evoni Darling tallied 20 assists. Destiny Clemons posted six kills, and Kaitlyn Lowes had six kills and a block in the win.

 

The Lady Rams dominated the Lady Steers taking the first and second sets by a score of 25-4. The Lady Rams went on to win the third set 25-13, giving them a pair of conference wins in front of the home crowd.

 

Lowes led the Rams with seven kills, while Devin Warren picked up six kills, and Clemons added five kills in the win. Darling tallied 15 assists and Angelica Arroyo added 11 assists in the match. Arroyo also had four service aces for the Lady Rams.

 

The Lady Rams are now 10-0 all-time against Jarvis Christian and 14-0 all-time against Texas College.

 

The Lady Rams hit the road and take the short drive to Waxahachie, TX, to take on conference opponent Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Thursday October 1 at 7:00 p.m.
