SILOAM SPRINGS, AR: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team (6-3) dropped a 1-0 decision on a goal in the 87th minute at John Brown University (3-4) on Saturday.
The Lady Rams and Golden Eagles battled to a scoreless draw before JBU’s Mikey Brannan found the net off an assist from Camille Malkiewicz with 3:22 to play.
Texas Wesleyan goalkeeper, Katy Houchin, made seven saves against eight shots on goal in the loss. Brittany Henderson and Faith Thurman combined to make three saves in the shutout for John Brown.
“We were not as prepared as we needed to be for this game,” commented head coach Josh Gibbs. “The coaching staff will not let that happen next week. We will regroup and be ready to start our conference season on Thursday.”
The Lady Rams will open the Red River Athletic Conference season on the road on Thursday, as they travel to Muskogee, OK, to take on Bacone College. That game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start. |
