PHOENIX, AZ: The Texas Wesleyan University Golf team sits in seventh place after two rounds at the Grand Canyon Invitational at Estrella Mountain Ranch.
The Rams found themselves in a tie for seventh after a solid opening round card of 297. Armando Villarreal led the way and was tied for eighth individually at one-under par 71.
In round two Drew Koonce fired a 71 while Villarreal shot even par 72. Both are currently in the top-ten in the field of 90. Villarreal is tied for fourth while Koonce is tied for seventh. Stuart Martin and Tyler Lackey are both tied for 54th at 154. Tyson Lamb contributed a first round card of 77 before a second round 81 dropped him to 70th at 158.
Western Washington University shot five-under 283 in round two to lead all 18 teams at 574 (-2) for the tournament. Oklahoma City Univeristy’s Julian Valenciana shot a 67 in round one and leads the field at five-under 139 overall.
The tournament will wrap up with Tuesday’s third round.
