PHOENIX, AZ:  The Texas Wesleyan University men’s golf team moved up to sixth on the final day of action at the Grand Canyon Invitational.  The event was hosted by Grand Canyon University at Estrella Mountain Ranch.

Texas Wesleyan entered the day in a tie for seventh, but a final round of 297 moved the Rams up to a tie for sixth with the host squad.

Drew Koonce shot two-under par 70 on Tuesday and finished fourth at -1 (215) in the field of 90 individuals.  Armando Villarreal just missed the top-ten after shooting 76 on Tuesday to finish tied for 11th at +3 (219).  Tyson Lamb (55th) shot 74 while Stuart Martin (T53) shot 77 to round out Texas Wesleyan’s card on Tuesday.

Oklahoma City University shot 286 to rally from three strokes down and tie Western Washington University at -1 (863).  Oklahoma City’s Julian Valenciana finished at -8 (208) after a final round of 69 to win individual medalist honors by five shots.

The Rams will return to action October 15-16 at the NAIA Preview Invitational at TPC @ Deere Run in Silvis, IL.
