COVINGTON NAMED RRAC P.O.W.

FORT WORTH, TX:  Texas Wesleyan University’s Chesly Covington has been named Red River Athletic Conference Volleyball Libero of the Week for the period of October 5-11.

Covington, a sophomore libero from Hutto, TX, added her third such award of the season with 58 digs (5.8/g), in Texas Wesleyan’s three matches last week.  She posted 23 digs against Huston-Tillotson University (TX) and 20 in a losing effort to Our Lady of the Lake University (TX).  Texas Wesleyan is 4-4 in conference play and 10-13 for the season.

Arlene Ferreira of the University of Texas-Brownsville earned RRAC Player of the Week recognition, while Huston-Tillotson’s Samantha Mendez was named Hitter of the Week, and UTB’s Daianarah Bracero was named Setter of the Week.

The Lady Rams will return to action on Thursday, when they host Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Think Pink Day.  That match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start in the Sid Richardson Center.
