RAMS LEAD AT NAIA PREVIEW |
SILVIS, IL: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s golf team continued to enjoy success at TPC @ Deere Run, the site of the NAIA Preview Invitational. Deere Run was the site of the 2009 NAIA National Championship, in which the Rams placed second, and will be the site of the 2010 Championship as well.
Through one round at the Preview, Texas Wesleyan holds a three shot lead. Texas Wesleyan shot 292 (one shot better than their best round at last year’s NAIA Championship), and lead St. Ambrose University by three strokes.
Drew Koonce shot even par, 71, and is tied for second place, two shots off the pace set by Shorter College’s Arvid Bengtsson.
Frazer Ogston is tied for 11th at 73. Armando Villarreal and Thomas Bosco are both tied for 14th at 74, and Dillon Watkins is tied for 68th at 82 to round out Texas Wesleyan’s card.
The Rams will complete play at the NAIA Preview in Friday’s final round.
