LADY RAMS SWEEP ON THE ROAD |
Box Score vs. Texas College Box Score vs. Jarvis Christian HAWKINS, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (14-14, 8-4 RRAC) swept a pair of Red River Athletic Conference matches on Friday. They took 3-0 wins at Texas College (3-18, 0-13) and at Jarvis Christian College (4-19, 2-11).
Against Texas College, the Lady Rams won with scores of 25-15, 25-14, and 25-15. Brittney Person led the way with 10 kills in 17 attempts while hitting .412 for the match. Destiny Clemons added nine kills of her own. Angelica Arroyo posted 19 assists, while Evoni Darling finished with 11. Chelsy Covington notched a team-high nine digs.
Against Jarvis Christian, the Lady Rams took the match with scores of 25-19, 25-11, and 25-15. Texas Wesleyan nearly put four players in double-figures in kills. Covington hit .421 with 10 kills in the match. Person, Clemons, and Rachel Daniel each finished with nine. Daniel posted her nine kills in just ten swings for a hitting percentage of .900. Arroyo notched 21 assists, while Darling added 13. Kristina Harris led the defense with 15 digs.
With the two wins, Texas Wesleyan jumped to fourth in the RRAC standings at 8-4 with four matches to play.
The Lady Rams will return to action on Saturday, as they wrap up a five-game road trip. They will take on Wiley College in Marshall, TX, at 11:00 a.m. |
