GOLD RALLIES FOR 9-8 WIN

FORT WORTH, TX: Trent Sewell’s RBI single capped a four-run rally in the bottom of the ninth inning as Blake Walker’s Gold team took a 9-8 win over Butch Ballez’s Navy team in Wesleyan World Series action on Tuesday.

Navy appeared to be on their way to leveling the series at a game apiece, leading 8-5 with closer Matt Chutchian on the hill in the ninth inning.  However, a pair of defensive miscues extended a four-run rally for the Gold squad.

Sewell went 3-for-4 in the contest.  Jason Homes went 2-for-3, and Ryan Raggsdale went 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Gold.

Nathan Barker tossed four shutout innings for the Gold squad.  He allowed just one hit while striking out two and walking one.  Freshman Jacob Sendejo picked up the win after allowing one run on two hits in two innings of work.

Game three is set for Wednesday afternoon at Sycamore Park.
