FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UNDERSTANDING GENERATION Y: PREPARING FOR THE WORKPLACE

All members of the community are cordially invited to hear McKinsey Award-winning author Tammy Erickson speak on what must be done to prepare today’s students for tomorrow’s workplace. Erickson will speak from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in Martin Hall on the Texas Wesleyan campus.

Erickson is the president of nGenera Innovation Network and co-author of four Harvard Business Review articles. Her latest book, Plugged In: The Generation Y Guide to Thriving at Work, tells Gen Y’s how to find their way in a changing workplace. It’s a must-read, as this group is destined to become the dominant segment of the workforce for the next 40 years.

Why should you attend? Gen Y already makes up nearly one-third of all Americans living today. Born after 1980, they’re now pouring into the work world with values, aspirations, and approaches that differ markedly from their parents—and coworkers. Erickson’s extensive research explores the changing workforce and employee values as well as how successful organizations innovate through collaboration. It’s imperative that educators understand this environment and calibrate their methodology as necessary to ensure the future success of their students.

Please be our guest for this timely and informative presentation. Faculty and even students are encouraged to attend as well. After the presentation, you’ll be able to meet the author at the reception located within walking distance from Martin Hall.
