THEATRE WESLEYAN PRESENTS PLAYMARKET 2009 Theatre Wesleyan is pleased to announce the 12th annual Playmarket, Certificate of Death by Walter Wykes, BA '92. The final dress rehearsal, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 14, in the Thad Smotherman Theatre, located at 1205 Binkley Street. The Playmarket 2009 concert reading will be presented Monday, May 18, at Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre in New York City. In Certificate of Death, Eugene and Stanley are horrified when they learn that a young college student in the Cackon country has just been put to death after receiving a “Certificate of Death” in the mail. (It was a “Certificate of Death”—what else were they to do?) When the postman arrives with similar certificates for the two friends, they rush out to clear things up before they, too, are executed. Playmarket 2009 is directed by Connie Whitt-Lambert, professor of theatre, and features theatre majors and alumni Chase Burnett, Johnny Gonzales, Chris Hatcher, Michael Kreitzinger, Dillon Maroney, Erica Maroney, BA ’07, Alfredo Martinez, Joy Millard, Ben Phillips, and Cari Watson. Once again, this travel and learn program is being sponsored by Anne Skipper, BA ’78, chairman of the Board of Trustees. An alumni reception will be held at the NYC home of Mike Skipper, BA ’78. During the trip, Dr. Harold and Marie Jeffcoat will host a student and alumni dinner at New York’s Carmine’s Restaurant. For more information on Playmarket 2009, please contact the Theatre Office at 817-531-5867.
