For individuals who are handicapped or temporarily disabled due to an injury, security can provide transportation to and from buildings on campus.
If you would like to be escorted from a building to your car after dark, call (817) 531-4911. Give your name, the building, and the entrance in which you will meet the officer. Allow 5-10 minutes from the time you call to the time security arrives.
Dead Battery Jump
Security will assist faculty, staff and students by jumping dead batteries. Call (817) 531-4911 and give your name, the make, model and color of your car, and the parking lot in which your car is located. You will need to be at your car when security arrives and sign a liability waiver before security can assist you.
Safety Tips and Advice
“The campus community is as strong and safe as we make it” and this can be done by taking simple preventive steps in not becoming vulnerable to crimes. We encourage the campus community to take advantage of the courtesy services that Campus Security Offers. Here are some easy crime prevention tips to help our campus community to become stronger.
Keep your residence hall room door locked whenever the room is unoccupied, if you are in the room alone or if you are sleeping.
Do not open your residence hall room door unless you can identify the person seeking entrance.
Report suspicious persons or activities in your residence hall to the RA on duty, the hall director or to Campus Safety.
Never prop open exterior doors to residence halls or allow unescorted visitors into the hall.
If your residence hall room key is lost or stolen, report the loss immediately to the residence hall staff. Never leave your keys lying around in your room when you are not in the room.
Do not keep large amounts of cash in your room.

Never leave your valuables such as purse, wallet, and keys lying on your desk
When working late call security to inform them that you are leaving the building

Keep your automobile locked at all times. Keep doors locked when traveling alone.
Don't park your automobile in secluded or dimly lit areas.
Do not keep valuables or electronics in plain sight in your automobile.
When walking to your automobile at night, have your keys readily in hand.
Always check the back seat before getting into your automobile.
Never offer rides to strangers or hitch hikers.
Check your automobile daily.
Protect the safety of your personal property and valuables. Don't allow your property or valuables to be unattended at any time.
Make a list of your valuables including make, model and serial number.
Permanently mark your personal property and valuables with electric engravers. Contact Campus Safety for more information or how to borrow an engraver.
Help protect your property and the property of others by reporting suspicious activity to Campus Safety.
Security Report and Statistics
The following information is provided to better inform University students and others. The information conforms to the requirements of the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act".
Students who operate a motor vehicle on University property are responsible for knowing and observing University traffic and parking regulations contained in the Student Handbook.
Vehicles parked on University property shall be registered with Campus Security, no exceptions. Each vehicle shall have one valid Texas Wesleyan University parking permit sticker affixed to the front windshield, with the exception of the Law School students who are residents in the dorms. These students shall have two valid Texas Wesleyan University parking permit stickers affixed to the front windshield, one for the main campus and one for the law school. Permits may be obtained at the library circulation desk.
Students who drive rental cars or parent's cars temporarily on campus shall be required to have a temporary parking hangtag. These hangtags may be obtained at the library circulation desk or the Facilities office.
Visitor parking shall not be used by students before 5:00 pm under any circumstances. The only exception to this rule is for students who are temporarily disabled due to an injury. These students will be allowed to use visitor parking ONLY if they fill out a "Temporary Visitor/Handicap Parking" form and receive a hangtag. The form can be obtained from the Facilities Operations office. Any questions, call (817) 531-4454.

Fines are assessed per violation.
Students have 10 days in which to pay or appeal the ticket. If the ticket is not paid or appealed within this time, a hold will be placed on the student's account. This will result in the student's inability to register, receive transcripts, or graduate until the ticket is paid.
Security will run the plates on any car without a parking permit, in order to determine the owner of the car. An additional $10 fine will be assessed to cover the cost.
Students have 10 Business days from the date on the ticket to submit an appeal.
If the ticket is not paid or appealed within 10 Business days a hold will be placed on your account, which will result in your inability to register, receive transcripts, or graduate until the ticket is paid.
To appeal a ticket, fill out the form below. You can also fill out a hard copy appeal form and turn it in to the Student Life Offices. The appeal form is located in two locations: SGA Forms Wall in OC Hall on the 2nd floor or the Student Life Office in Brown Lupton.
The student appealing the ticket will be contacted by the Chief Justice of SGA to set up their appeal hearing. A student can waive the hearing and the Student Hearing Board will use the appeal form and make the decision based on that alone. If the student chooses to appear before the Student Hearing Board (made up of students elected to SGA and appointed by the President of SGA), the Chief Justice will set up the hearing date. Fines will not increase, nor holds put on accounts while a ticket is in the appeal process. If the ticket is upheld, the student has 10 days from the date contacted to pay the ticket or a hold will be placed on the student's account.
If an appeal is submitted after a hold is placed on an account, the hold will remain until the ticket is either paid or dismissed.
All appeals are reviewed by the Student Hearing Board and all decisions are final.
