Responsible for recruitment and admission of transfer students from Dallas County and surrounding towns/cities to Texas Wesleyan. Primary duties include recruiting students and evaluating files. Work closely with prospective new students and parents in the support of the transition to Texas Wesleyan University.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. 

Serve as the liaison between Texas Wesleyan University and community colleges in the Dallas County area.

Provide input in the development of recruitment activities for transfer students.

Develop recruitment plans for Dallas County Community College and other colleges in/around Dallas County.

Provide weekly, monthly and year-end reports on territory activity (including prospect and applicant reports)

Recruit prospective students through college fairs/programs, high schools, community colleges, businesses, churches and other professional contacts including, but not limited to Dallas and cities in/around Dallas County.

Coordinate, schedule and give campus tours and open houses on the main campus for prospective students and their families.

Visit and coordinate information exchange with community college counselors, advisors, and faculty.

Advise prospective students concerning program options, course availability, and degree requirements.

Give admissions-related presentations to tour groups, school groups, and prospective students.

Provide effective follow-up for prospective students including telephone calls, emails and letters.

Input student data and applicant data into the Datatel/Colleague Student Information System.

Read, process, and evaluate applications and transcripts for admission and academic scholarship recommendations.

Create advising worksheets/transfer plans for prospects and applicants.

Create and maintain a positive working relationship with faculty, staff, and students within the Texas Wesleyan community.

Provide prospective students/families academic, financial aid information, and campus information.

Attend meetings and other events on the historical campus in Fort Worth.

Adhere to the Statement of Principles of Good Practice of the NACAC.

Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Admission.

Assist with on-campus orientation of new students.

Participate in at least one Admissions Office Committee.

Assist Assistant Director with communications to students.

Adhere to the Statement of Principles of Good Practice of the NACAC. Actively participate in TACRAO and other professional groups.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree required, liberal arts background preferred. Previous admission or related experience preferred, but not required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Demonstrated administrative ability to plan and execute programs and activities, to secure cooperation from individuals and organizations, and to coordinate the activities of such individuals and organizations.
Proficiency with an integrated administrative system and current computer software programs.
Ability to demonstrate a cooperative attitude while working with a diverse student population.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining a high attention for details.
Strong organizational skills to work productively & efficiently to meet multiple deadlines.
Ability to work individually and within a team environment.
Ability to adhere to University & departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to use discretion in handling confidential matters, while complying with FERPA regulations.
Outstanding interpersonal and community relations skills.
Ability to maintain a professional appearance and office atmosphere.
Ability to demonstrate and provide strong customer service.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.  Ability to write correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to current and prospective students and University employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

LICENSES
Valid Texas Driver's license

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  Extensive travel is expected around Tarrant County and out-of-area destinations as dictated by recruitment demands using personal transportation.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.  Available for evening and weekend duties as required by the position and the department.
