The Rambler TV Director/Producer coordinates all planned content for Rambler TV, including the newscast, entertainment programming and additional multimedia content in association with the Multimedia Editor.

Job Description:

The Rambler TV Director/Producer coordinates all planned content for Rambler TV, including the newscast, entertainment programming and additional multimedia content in association with the Multimedia Editor. Rambler TV is a partner with The Rambler and www.therambler.org in covering Texas Wesleyan University and must coordinate with other media entities for converged media coverage in addition to stand alone programming. It is the director’s responsibility to ensure that all content providers understand assignments for Rambler TV. It is also the director’s responsibility to work with Texas Wesleyan media outlets to make sure that Rambler TV is providing consistent and accurate coverage of Texas Wesleyan and Wesleyan-related events. The director must also work with the Multimedia Editor to ensure that content from Rambler TV is also available on www.therambler.org. The editor must be familiar with The Rambler policies manual and statement of ethical behavior in student media. The Rambler TV Director has the traditional editorial freedoms and responsibilities of professional journalism.

Specific duties include:
• Coordinate the timing and the technical aspects of television packages for TV and online presentation
• Coordinate the production of logos, stingers, music and illustrations for Rambler TV
• Work with the Rambler Liaison to plan the shows and coverage schedule for Rambler TV
• Work with Multimedia Center, when necessary, to arrange for use of equipment and rooms as needed
• Coordinate the development of content for exclusive Rambler TV presentation
• Develop and manage policies and procedures for Rambler TV presentation, including use of training
• Create unique content and features (possible inclusion of documentaries and entertainment media)
• Work with Rambler Liaison to hire qualified producers and other leaders, based on experience and ability
• Conduct regular budget and planning meetings
• Supervise student producers and anchors
• Evaluate subordinates
• Lead the staff by thinking creatively and assigning stories and projects
• Suggest improvements in writing, reporting, photography and editing
• Enforce deadlines and meeting attendance
• Monitor the functionality of the online channels and correct malfunctions as they occur
• Plan, assign and implement regular scheduling, in conjunction with the Multimedia Editor, Faculty Liaison and Faculty Advisor
• Adhere to all Rambler social media policies
• Ensure that important breaking news stories are covered and available for viewing within an hour of occurrence
• Adhere to all copyright law
• Work with students from Mass Communication courses, in conjunction with Faculty Advisor and Faculty Liaison
• Attend regularly scheduled meetings for all staff
• Meet regularly with the Faculty Advisor and Faculty Liaison to keep them updated on progress and any potential problems or concerns with Rambler TV (i.e., legal, ethical, internal discipline, budgets, equipment needs, etc.)
• Maintain a minimum (but announced) schedule of office hours to address all potential concerns of the staff and Texas Wesleyan community
• Keep up with e-mail, phone messages and campus mail and return messages same day
• Maintain Rambler equipment to ensure proper functioning, availability and cleanliness
• Works with staffs of other media outlets to ensure converged content
• Meet weekly deadlines
• Generate and communicate to Rambler TV Director, and/or Multimedia Editor, newsworthy story ideas on a weekly basis through the use of beat coverage
• Maintain contact and good rapport with sources from beats
• Conduct interviews and research to ensure balanced, complete, fair and accurate stories
• Shoot and edit video for Rambler TV production
• Provide a complete list of all sources, including contact information, for quality control purposes
• Make revisions to edited stories, including writing of scripts, in a timely fashion for same day turnaround
• Other duties as assigned

Flexible schedule based on coverage needs.
