Crystelle Waggoner Charitable Trust awards $200,000 grant to Texas Wesleyan
Rendering of planned improvements

Thanks to a grant from the Crystelle Waggoner Charitable Trust, Texas Wesleyan University has now secured 93 percent of the funding for the Rosedale Renaissance campaign.

In recognition of the $200,000 grant, the water feature will be named the Crystelle Waggoner Charitable Trust Reflection Pool. The lighted water feature, which will surround the clock tower at the new entryway, will have circular seating around its perimeter and will provide a beautiful focal point for visitors.

About the donor

Born to a North Texas ranching family, Crystelle Waggoner raised cattle and thoroughbred horses. A wonderfully generous woman, she established the Crystelle Waggoner Charitable Trust to benefit nonprofit organizations in the North Texas area. She died in 1982 and over the past 30 years, the trust has made millions of dollars in grants to the Fort Worth and North Texas community, primarily in the areas of arts, healthcare and education.

“We are delighted to provide this funding to Texas Wesleyan for their Rosedale Renaissance Project, which will assist in spurring economic development in the Polytechnic neighborhood,” Aaron Rumfelt, senior vice president, U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management, said. “Because of her love of the arts, the reflection pool is a fitting tribute to Crystelle Waggoner.”

Texas Wesleyan President Frederick G. Slabach said the University is honored to receive the funding from the trust.

“Their support means a great deal to the university and to our community,” he said. “The Rosedale Renaissance Project will truly transform the Polytechnic area and we are pleased to be partnering with so many fine institutions and organizations to revitalize the area.”

About the Rosedale Renaissance Project

The Rosedale Renaissance project is a $6.5 million multifaceted initiative that will transform the Polytechnic/Wesleyan Urban Village in southeast Fort Worth. A new conference center, new campus entryway and planned renovation of the historic Polytechnic Firehouse into a business incubator center will bring needed employment and educational services to the community.
