Companies such as yours provide a valuable service to our students by providing them opportunities to help cover their college and living expenses. Your organization will also help students develop good work habits that will stay with them throughout their professional careers.

Texas Wesleyan's Career Services provides support for employers to recruit its students for full-time and part-time employment, internships, and cooperative education.

We strive for excellent service and take pride in our relationships with our employers. Please contact our office by telephone (817-531-6512) or at careerservices@txwes.edu to schedule on-campus interviews for recruiting, internships or cooperative education. To provide the most effective marketing and advertising of your campus visit, Career Services asks that you contact our office at least one month prior to the date you wish to reserve.

Here are some of the many services Texas Wesleyan's Career Services can provide you:

  • Post a job - Positions are posted in the Student Life Center, forwarded to students actively seeking employment, forwarded to professors and the school or departments relevant to the opportunity, as well as posted in the Career Center.
  • Participate in our Career Fair
  • Recruit on campus - On a day of your choosing, you may provide employment information and set up interviews.
  • Schedule a presentation or on-campus interview
  • Obtain access to qualified applicants - Employers may fill full-time career positions with students hired through Career Services. Many companies offer our students full-time employment after completion of an internship, because they’re pleased with our student's quality of work and dedication to career.

Recruiting Policies

Purpose
To ensure the quality of our services and to better assist Texas Wesleyan University students, alumni and other users of our services, the TWU off ice of Career Services has established these policies and guidelines for al TWU activities sponsored by the office.

Definition
Recruiting activities include, but are not limited to: career fairs; on-campus interviews; information sessions; campus tabling; and advertising opportunities on university bulletin boards or via on-line services.

Career Services offers assistance to employers n accordance with the Principles of Professional Conduct for Career Services and Employment Professionals outlined by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. These principles have guided our policy for university recruiting activities.

Services for Employers
Career Services offers employers the use of its services and focil8ties so that they may access students and alumni form the University. Career Services, in return, expects that employers act in accordance with the Principles of Professional Conduct for Career Services and Employment Professionals outlined by NACE.

To be qualified as an employer to use Career Services:

  1. Employers must adhere to federal and Texas State EEO guidelines.
  2. The opportunity must not involve on-campus solicitation, posting of materials, or sale of products or services.
  3. Employers and individuals offering employment / entrepreneurial opportunities with compensation packages requiring commission only or requiring prospective employees to purchase a franchise or products or services upfront, or where compensation is based exclusively on commission or fees / percentage of sales from others under their sponsorship in the organization, are not permitted to access Career Services.

Exception: This does not apply to fees for Federal and State licensing requirements such as real estate, securities, etc

Third-Party Recruiters

Definition of third-party recruiter:

  1. Third-party recruiters are agencies, organizations, or individuals recruiting candidates for temporary, part-time employment opportunities other than for their own needs. This includes entities that refer or recruit for profit or not for profit and it includes agencies that collect student information to be disclosed to employers for purposes of recruitment and employment.
  2. Third-party recruiting organizations charge for services using one of the following fee structures:
    1. Applicant paid fee- The applicant pays the third-party recruiter a fee based upon the applicant’s starting salary once the applicant is placed with an employer.
    2. Employer paid fee- such as:
      1. Retainer-The employer pays a flat fee to the third-party recruiter for services performed I the recruiting of individuals to work for the employer.
      2. Contingency fee-The employer pays t the third-party recruiter a percentage of the applicant’s starting salary once the applicant is hired by the employer.
  3. The above definition includes, but is not limited to, the following entities regardless of the fee structure used by the entity to charge for services:
    1. Employment Agencies/Organizations that list positions for a number of client organizations and receive payment when a referred candidate is hired. The fee for listing a position is paid either by the firm listing the opening (fee paid) or by the candidate who is hired.
    2. Search Firms-Organizations that contract with clients (employers) to find and screen qualified persons to fill specific positions . The fees for this service are paid by the clients (employers).
    3. Contract recruiter-Organizations that contract with an employer to act as the employer’s agent in the recruiting and employment function.
    4. Resume Referral Firms-Organizations that collect data on job seekers which is sent to prospective employers. Fees exist for he employer, job seeker, or both.
  4. Temporary Agencies-Temporary agencies are employers, not third-party recruiters, and will be expected to comply with the professional conduct principles set forth for employer professionals. These are organizations that contract to provide individuals qualified to perform specific tasks or complete specific projects for a client organization. Individuals perform work at the client organization, but are employed and paid by the agency.

Services for Third-Party Recruiters

  1. Agencies may post positions on our Online Career Office provided they include on the listing the name of the employer with the opening. Contact information for an individual at the employing company must be provided to career services staff for verification purposes. That information can either be made available to the jobseeker or not, at he discretion of the Third-Party Agency.
  2. Agencies may attend events sponsored by Career Services provided they clearly represent the name of the company(ies) they are representing. As with job listings, the Third-Party representative must provide Career Services with the contact information for the organizations contracting their agency to act on their behalf at the event.
  3. Agencies can request a link t their website displayed on our site.

In no case will Career Services direct candidates or their resumes to a Third-Party Agency.

In no case will Career Services refer, electronically or otherwise students to agencies that charge fees to the job seeker.

In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, Career Services releases candidate information only with the written permission of the employment candidate and only to the identifies employers. Re-disclosure of candidate information is not permitted.

Employers or agencies who violate any of the above policies or who have been judged by a court of law in the United States to be engaged in illegal activities are prohibited form using the office’s services.

Posting a Job

Employers may post a position to our Online Job Bank available on CareerLink through Symplicity. You may select whether you want 1Ls, 2Ls, 3Ls and or alumni to view your posting. Students and/or alumni can respond by sending the requested application materials to the contact information you provide in the manner you choose.

CareerLink now has two different account options. If you would like to post to the Texas Wesleyan University job bank free of charge, you may follow the instructions below.

For New Employers:

  1. Login to CareerLink and select the [Register] tab.
  2. Complete the requested information. You will receive an email with your password as soon as your registration has processed and your account has set up.
  3. Follow the directions below to post a position.

For Employers with an Existing Account:

  1. If you have an account, login to CareerLink.
  2. Choose [Jobs] from the toolbar at the top of the screen.
  3. Click the [Add New] button.
  4. Complete your posting and click [submit].

Reminder: Your username is your complete email address. If you have forgotten your password or have never received one, select [Forgot My Password] tab and it will be e-mailed to you.

If you wish to post to multiple schools at once, you may register using the [Register and Post OneStop Job] tab. Please note that there is a fee associated with this option. Pricing information for the OneStop option available at the Symplicity website. If you do not wish to pay for an account, you can still post with Texas Wesleyan free of charge by registering for an account using the [Register] tab. If you want to post with other schools that use Symplicity as well, you will need to create separate Symplicity accounts with each of them, and post the job with each school.

If you do not wish to create a Symplicity account:
If you do not wish to create a CareerLink account, you may complete the attached Job posting Form and return it to Lorena Gallegos at lgallegos-sw@txwes.edu or by fax to 817-531-4980. We will then post the position for you on CareerLink. However, you will not be able to view your posting unless you have a CareerLink account.

How to Receive Application Materials:

  1. Email: If you select “email” you will receive each applicant’s material via email immediately.
  2. Accumulate Online: Selecting this option allows you to login to CareerLink and view the entire group of applicants and each applicant’s specific application materials at any time. If you choose, you can view materials for the entire group or for specific individuals. When you want to view applications, login to CareerLink and select “Student Resumes” from the “jobs” section.
  3. Other: You may provide instructions on other means of applying such as by fax, mail or through your organization’s website.
