MiM Admission Requirements (EFFECTIVE JUNE 1, 2009)
To be considered for admission, all applicants for the Master in Management (MiM) program must have a U.S. bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university (or a comparable foreign degree). Applicants with graduate coursework must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.000 to qualify for admission. All students must be in good academic standing with all colleges attended.
Some applicants will meet the Full Admission requirements prior to starting their coursework. Other applicants may be permitted to begin a limited number of courses under specific conditions designed to determine their potential to pursue graduate studies.
The four Measures of Capability listed below are considered in evaluating admission status. Although it is not necessary to meet all of these measures, an applicant's category is determined by those that are met.
Measures of Capability
- A GPA of 3.000 or better on a 4.000 scale in the final 60 semester credit hours completed at the undergraduate level.
- A GMAT score of 500 or better and a 4.5 on the writing section or a
GRE score of 1020 or better with 560 quantitative, 460 verbal.
- At least 12 semester hours of graduate work at a regionally accredited U.S. College or University with a GPA of 3.200 or better on a 4.00 scale. (These course credits may or may not be accepted as transfer credits and will be considered on a case by case basis after review by the graduate faculty committee and director of graduate programs).
- Six years or more of relevant and consecutive managerial, professional or military work experience as determined by the School of Business Administration.
Full Admission
To be granted Full Admission status prior to beginning graduate coursework, an applicant who does not already hold a U.S. graduate degree must show potential by satisfying at least two of the four measures of capability.
Applicants who hold an earned graduate degree in any discipline from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university (or comparable foreign degree) who are otherwise in good standing with that institution and who meet the English language requirements will be granted immediate Full Admission status. These applicants are considered to have proven their ability to do graduate work through their prior achievements.
Conditional Admission
Conditional Admission status allows an applicant who satisfies at least one of the four measures of capability to begin classes under specific conditions. An applicant granted Conditional Admission must complete at least 12 credit hours of graduate work, excluding foundation courses, with a GPA or 3.2 or better before being considered for Full Admission status.
Conditionally admitted students may take only the designated courses and may not take any additional courses until their conditional status has been lifted.
Each applicant will be individually considered for transfers and waivers. Please see Transfer Credit under Academic Policies in the Graduate Programs Catalog.
Students may not move from a Certificate program to the MiM program; they must meet the MiM admissions criteria.
