University raises $16K on North Texas Giving Day
The results from North Texas Giving Day are in, and student scholarships are getting quite a boost.
The event raised almost $16,000 from 7 a.m. to midnight, and that number is expected to increase to more than $17,000 when the donations are multiplied by DonorBridge.
“North Texas Giving Day was a great success for Texas Wesleyan University," said Christine Spencer, director of annual giving. "With the help of faculty and staff support, we were able to increase donor participation by 42 percent. We are very thankful for Communities Foundation of Texas for allowing us to take part in this special opportunity.”
In addition to the 42 percent increase in Texas Wesleyan donors this year, there was also a 30 percent increase in funds raised.
Celebrate Wesleyan Fund Day at Lou's Place
If you weren’t able to contribute to scholarships on North Texas Giving Day, more opportunities to give are upcoming.
The Wesleyan Fund Day barbeque, hosted by the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m at Lou's Place. For a $5 donation, you can enjoy hamburgers and hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, chips and peach cobbler from Coburns, all while supporting student scholarships and programs.
All faculty and staff who attend this event are eligible for prizes, including gift certificates to area restaurants and more. Current Wesleyan Fund donors will eat free of charge.
