President Frederick G. Slabach spoke about the Rosedale Renaissance and the University’s master plan as he welcomed 50 members of this year’s Leadership Fort Worth class to campus.

The first phase of the Rosedale Street Improvement Project will begin this spring. Among the changes along Rosedale will be a widened, promenade-style sidewalk in front of campus, as well as street lights that will mirror the historical look of those on campus.

“This will be a much more pedestrian-friendly stretch of Rosedale,” Slabach said.

He also provided an overview of the University and its attributes that are highlighted by the ongoing marketing campaign.

The group was on campus as part of the Education Day tour, which is designed to give participants a better understanding of the educational resources and opportunities in the city. Another component is for the class to learn more about key legislative issues that pertain to education.

Carol Johnson-Gerendas, assistant professor of communication and program coordinator of liberal studies, and Kay Colley, assistant professors of mass communications and assistant department chair, also spoke to the group about holistic listening and critical question creation.
