Is college different today?

Significant changes in costs, financial aid, student life, and teaching make today's student experience very different than you might expect. Deregulation of tuition has made affording higher education more challenging exactly when increased technology in the workplace makes the need for learning even more critical. As in so many aspects of life colleges need to be a partner with the student and family to achieve a degree.

Texas Wesleyan University prides itself in being a family-like university. One way that Wesleyan takes care of its family is by giving them the tools necessary for academic success. Whether it is internship placement through Career Services, one-on-one tutoring through the Academic Success Center, counseling through the Glick House, financial aid assistance, or advisor help, Wesleyan offers its students the support they need. In addition, there are a variety of ways for students to get involved through the organizations of Student Life.

Parents and families are an integral part of making Wesleyan special and there is always an outlet for involvement. The Ram Parent Association links parents with the university, offering support and information through workshops and orientations.

In their home away from home, Wesleyan knows safety is important to our students and their families. Safety is a priority, which is why security officers are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and residence halls are locked at all times and require key cards for entry. Campus Security offers such services as safety escorts, flat tire assistance, crime prevention orientation sessions, and fire safety education and training, as well as publication of campus crime statistics.
