Technology has changed significantly since Mr. Martin started working at Texas Wesleyan in 1994. “At that time, there was one computer lab with Internet access and that was through dial-up modems.”
He enjoys working with the nurse anesthesia program, helping with distance learning through live videoconferences. “I really love working with the students and faculty at Texas Wesleyan.”
Mr. Martin was a mass communication major, was in the Army’s media department, and worked at technical jobs with Tandy for 15 years. “I have been involved in technical work one way or another for 30 years; I’ve always enjoyed it.”
His hobbies mirror his work. Mr. Martin videotapes his church services and weddings. His house is wired for audio/video in every room and his friends say he has more televisions (15 that are connected and functional) per square feet in his house than anyone they know. “My wife says that I relax by working with wires.”
People are saying:
Multi-media Specialist Kenneth Flowers and Media Support Specialist Barbara Reese say Mr. Martin is a “guru of all things media.” Flowers thinks of Mr. Martin as a mentor. “I learn a lot from him everyday. There’s not one question that he doesn’t know the answer to.”
