Mr. Chaney has a long history with Texas Wesleyan, starting with attending sports camp at the university when he was 5 years old. A staff member for more than three years, he was a liberal studies student before that, graduating in 2008. His brothers and mother also attended Texas Wesleyan and his father was one of the founders of the law school. “Needless to say, I love it here. I aspire to stay for another 30 or 40 years.”

He enjoys his job, handling a variety of tasks from coordinating freshman welcome weekend to working with student organizations on philanthropy projects. “I’m in the business of skill management and making productive citizens. We are enabling students to get out there and impact their college experience. We’re helping students shape the social and community network that Texas Wesleyan has.”

Mr. Chaney runs the leadership certificate program World of Wesleyan. “WOW is about creating leaders and teaching students that they always have an opportunity to be a leader—they don’t have to be the head of a business to make a difference, but can be a leader in everyday life. It’s important because it is building well-rounded individuals with civic-minded attitudes, productive citizens that can find fulfillment and purpose in their life.”

Did you know?
Mr. Chaney can’t read music, but plays (drums, guitar, piano, and bass) by ear. He met his wife, also a redhead, at Texas Wesleyan and they are expecting their first child.
