ASC hiring tutors for spring

11.12.2014 | By:

Do your friends always want to borrow your notes from a class?

Do they always want to study with you before a test so you can help them?

If you find that you are always helping your classmates with their courses, you may have what it takes to be a tutor in the Academic Success Center. We are looking for experts in writing, psychology, religion, accounting, and computer science.

It's easy to apply. Come by the ASC and meet with the Tutor Coordinator, Kelly Anderson. The requirements to be a tutor in the ASC are to have successfully completed the course you want to tutor with an "A" or "B" and two recommendations from professors. Of course, you also have to be able to teach the material in the course to other students.

There are many benefits to being a tutor. Tutoring will improve your skills in the course. The best way to increase your knowledge in a subject is to practice and explain the material to others. It will increase your critical thinking and communication skills. Lastly, it gives you valuable job experience that you can add to your resume.

If you are interested in a tutoring position, please come by and set up an interview.

Any questions regarding tutoring, contact Kelly Anderson at klanderson@txwes.edu or 817-531-4219.
