Professor Mark Hanshaw, Ph.D., was selected as one of 25 faculty members from universities across the country to participate in a four-day conference focused on the issue of religious diversity and pluralism as it affects the higher education arena.

The purpose of the conference is to initiate a national dialogue focused on "how interfaith understanding can be taught effectively in the college classroom, so that students are equipped for interfaith engagement and leadership."

The conference is sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges and is being led by Laurie Patton, Ph.D., dean of Duke University's Trinity College of Arts & Sciences, and Eboo Patel, president of the Interfaith Youth Core.

The gathering will be held in August 2015 at DePaul University in Chicago, and is funded by the Henry Luce Foundation.
