Alumni from the Texas Wesleyan Music Department gathered Friday, Feb. 13, at a special reception during the Texas Music Educators Association State Conference in San Antonio.

The reception, held at the Casa del Rio Restaurant, gave current students and faculty an opportunity to interact with alumni as they celebrated their association with the University. Graduating classes from 1981-2014 were represented.

The annual conference is the largest conference of its kind in the country, and was hosted this year at San Antonio's Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

It is a gathering of music educators representing elementary music teachers, secondary music teachers and college teachers in the choral, band and orchestral fields. It is also the conference in which the Texas All-State groups present their performances, and the choirs, bands and orchestras that perform are among the best in the country.

Music educators attend workshops and performances, all designed to develop their skills, and in addition to these professional development opportunities, they get an opportunity to meet with their peers at the college alumni receptions.
