Theatre Wesleyan professors and alumnus receive Live Theatre League Awards

On Monday, April 11, the Live Theatre League of Fort Worth celebrated the accomplishments of local theatre artists at a ceremony held at Scott Theatre. 

Several past and present Theatre Wesleyan faculty members and alumni were named recipients of several awards that were presented by the Live Theatre League.

  • Individual Theatre Award for Outstanding Service: Connie Whitt-Lambert for Circle Theatre
  • Individual Theatre Award for Outstanding Service: Kristin Spires for Artes de la Rosa at Rose Marine Theatre
  • Elston Brooks Lifetime Achievement Award: Brynn Bristol
  • Bill Garber Young Theatre Artist Award: Joshua Sherman, '12

The mission of the Live Theatre League of Tarrant County, Texas is to ensure the future of live theatre as a cultural asset to the community through promotional, collaborative and educational endeavours. 

Connie Whitt-Lambert is currently a professor of theatre at Texas Wesleyan University and is the director of the Playmarket program. Recent Theatre Wesleyan productions she has directed include In & BetweenThe Drowsy Chaperone and Certificate of Death and the New York Playmarket readings of Positive and Graham's Grail. Her work with Circle Theatre has spanned more than a decade where she is also a judge of Circle's High School Playwriting Project which gives students the chance to develop and create new works.

Kristin Spires is currently an adjunct professor of theatre voice for Texas Wesleyan University. She has music-directed the Theatre Wesleyan productions of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and The Drowsy Chaperone. Her work with Artes de la Rosa included music direction for Big Fish, the upcoming Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and the professional regional premiere of In the Heights for which she won a 2014 Column Award for Best Music Direction in a Non-Equity Musical.

Brynn Bristol was an instructor of theatre for Texas Wesleyan University. She recently retired after the spring 2015 semester. Brynn was the manager of the costume shop and served as director for Theatre Wesleyan productions including SylviaCabaretCrimes of the Heart, The Fantasticks, among others. She also costume designed our productions of RentThe HeiressFuddy Meers and others. Brynn also shared her talents by serving as director, costume designer, scenic designer and scene painter for many productions across the DFW Metroplex.
