Theatre Wesleyan is pleased to unveil the poster for the upcoming production of Spring Awakening, the Tony Award-winning rock musical. Junior theatre major, Alfredo Tamayo, plays Melchior in the show and designed the poster. Spring Awakening is directed by alumna and Adjunct Professor of Theatre, Emily Cherry.
The poster features a tree whose roots intertwine to create the image of an intimate couple, while the body of the tree illustrates the silhouettes of the young couple's faces. There will be two versions of the poster on campus.
Graphic design and promotional artwork by Alfredo Tamayo.
The winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, told by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater through what Entertainment Weekly called, "the most gorgeous Broadway score this decade," Spring Awakening explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood with a poignancy and passion that is illuminating and unforgettable. The landmark musical is an electrifying fusion of morality, sexuality and rock and roll that is exhilarating audiences across the nation like no other musical in years.
Presented by special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
