Student-written plays selected for Playmarket series in December
Two student-written plays have been selected as part of Theatre Wesleyan's long-running Playmarket series. These two plays are currently "works in progress" and will be further developed for a presentation on Dec. 6, 2015 at the Thad Smotherman Theatre in the Law Sone Fine Arts building.
The two plays being presented at this Playmarket reading will be:
- Eyes of the Hanging Tree by Kelsey Manuel
- Let's Start at the Beginning by Carlos Brumfield
Kelsey Manuel, senior theatre major, has been involved with several Theatre Wesleyan productions including Fuddy Meers (Sound Design), Metamorphoses (Asst. Technical Director) and the upcoming production of The School for Scandal (Lighting Design), and stage management for 33 Variations, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Survivor, Rent and In & Between. Other stage management credits include Peter Pan, Les Misérables, and Sweeney Todd.
Kelsey is a member of Alpha Psi Omega and is a Dean’s List Award recipient.
Carlos Brumfield, senior theatre major, is currently the assistant director and stage manager for The School for Scandal and has worked on Theatre Wesleyan's productions of The Survivor (Assistant Director), Rent (Tom Collins), The Heiress (Assistant Stage Manager) and The Drowsy Chaperone (Ensemble), among others.
Carlos is a member of Alpha Psi Omega and is an RA for Residence Life.
Connie Whitt-Lambert, professor of theatre, will direct the readings.
Admission will be free for the Dec. 6 reading.
