School of Business student receives the Nola Crow Scholarship
Aries Vazquez, a finance major in his senior year, has been awarded the Nola Crow Scholarship due to his academic excellence. The Fort Worth Mortgage Bankers Association awards the Nola Crow Scholarship to students that major in finance and demonstrate outstanding leadership, academic achievement and industry involvement.
Shenxiong Wu Ph.D, associate professor of finance, nominated Vazquez for the scholarship based on his work ethic in and out of the classroom.
Aside from class performance, Vazquez is project manager for Enactus, treasurer of the Finance Club, and an active member of the Accounting Society. Most of his time is spent studying, reading, writing notes and researching for his career to keep himself tuned in.
He is currently interning at TD Ameritrade in the Investor Services department while pursuing his Series 7 and Series 63 licenses. TD Ameritrade is a brokerage firm derived from Omaha Securities Incorporated that helps individual investors access the Wall Street stock market.
“Series 7 is for individuals soliciting the purchase or sale of corporate, municipal and U.S. government security, options, direct participation programs, investment company products and variable contracts.” Vazquez explained. “Series 63 is for individuals soliciting the purchase or sale of securities within a state.”
Vazquez is expecting a full-time position after his graduation this coming May in hopes of climbing up the corporate ladder.
With the grand workload he has, it isn’t surprising that the hardest part of his schedule is finding free time to be a regular college student.
