General Business

The Study of General Business Administration

If your goal is to become a manager, to move up the corporate ladder or to start your own business, you will need to have great communication skills, ability to think critically, analytically and conceptually, ability to lead and motivate employees to achieve a common goal and the ability to make decisions that will benefit your organization.

  • A general business education offers students a wide range of career opportunities in the business world.
  • According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers Summer 2010 Salary Survey the current average salary for a general business administration major is $43,879/year.
  • Some companies prefer students with specialized knowledge in an area, while others prefer students with a broad understanding of business concepts who are subsequently trained by the company in a specific area, such as marketing, human resources or finance.

Based on their individual interest in specific or broad preparation, a student can design his/her general business degree plan to meet their needs.
