About Me

So You Say You Wanna Teach ...
“I’ve always wanted to help people, so I would like to become a principal, because I think it’s one of the most rewarding things you can do in the education field. It has such a direct impact on students, because so many young people don’t know all the options that are out there for them.”

It Runs in the Family
Samantha’s brother Jeff is a senior political science major at Texas Wesleyan. “My whole family is kind of obsessed with the school. My parents have all this Ram stuff around their house!”

Why Smaller is Smarter
“I think the biggest class I’ve been in was 12 people. I’m a first-generation college student, and I get the personal attention I need to succeed. I feel like my grades are a lot better here than they would have been if I was at a bigger school.”

Engaging Educators
“Gladys Childs, visiting assistant professor of religion, is the nicest person I’ve ever met. She inspired me to minor in religion, and she’s always there to help you or talk about anything – not just school – like life, or work, or anything.”

Watcha Reading/Watching?
“I love Pride & Prejudice. I have read it for the first time in high school, and I’ve read it maybe six times since then. I love watching the [The 1995 BBC miniseries] on Netflix. I also like Harry Potter and The Hunger Games.”

Critical Thinking
“I had the opportunity to participate in University College Day as a presenter and it definitely helped me grow as a leader and public speaker. It was my first experience in front of a classroom teaching ... I learned that teaching isn't as easy as it looks!”
