Join us for the Alumni Reunion and the 2nd Annual Wesleyan 5K

April 20-22, 2017

Every year the University invites alumni to reconnect with fellow Rams and revisit their favorite Wesleyan memories. We've planned some exciting events at this year's reunion including the spring TXWES football game and the 2nd Annual Wesleyan 5K.

All alumni are invited, but we honor those who are celebrating milestone anniversaries. This year's honored classes are 1957, 1967 (Golden Anniversary), 1977, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2007 and 2012.

Schedule of Events

Thursday, April 20

Wesleyan 5K Packet Pickup

  • 10 a.m.-6 p.m. – Fort Worth Running Co. (2401 W. 7th St., Fort Worth)
  • Participants in the W5K are encouraged to pick up their packet before the event. Pick up during these hours to receive a free gift.

Alumni Weekend Kickoff Concert 

  • 7:30 p.m. – Nicholas Martin Hall
  • Start the reunion off with a wonderful concert presented by the Texas Wesleyan University Wind Ensemble. The group will be performing their last concert of the season, ending the first year with our new director, Dr. Paul Sikes. It promises to be a great event. 
Friday, April 21

Wesleyan 5K Packet Pickup 

  • 10 a.m.-6 p.m. – Fort Worth Running Co. (2401 W. 7th St., Fort Worth)
  • Participants in the W5K are encouraged to pick up their packet before the event. Pick up during these hours to receive a free gift.

Inaugural TXWES Football “Kick-off” Golf Tournament

  • 12 p.m. – Canyon West Golf Course (Brock, TX 76087)
  • TXWES Football is hosting this inaugural event for alumni and friends who want to enjoy an afternoon of golf while supporting Rams football. For questions, contact Sandy Stockton Caffee ’84 at sandy.caffee@gmail.com.

All Alumni Dinner 

  • 6 p.m. reception, 7 p.m. dinner – Blue Mesa Southwest Grill (612 Carroll St., Fort Worth)
  • Enjoy an evening of fun and fajitas at Blue Mesa Grill’s NEW location in their spacious 5th & Carroll Room. Participate in our drawing for some amazing Texas Wesleyan prizes and hear from Alumni Board President Glen Tuggle '85. Cash bar available.
Saturday, April 22

2nd Annual Wesleyan 5K (W5K)

  • 7 a.m. walk-up registration, 8 a.m. race begins, 8-11 a.m. kids zone and vendor fair
  • Event Registration: Armstrong-Mabee Business Center
  • Come walk, run or cheer on the racers at the second annual W5K and festival to include a certified, chip-timed 5K run/walk, 1-mile Willie Walk, vendor fair, kids zone and more.
  • Proceeds support student scholarships.

To participate in the 5K or the Willie Walk, you must register online at TXWES.EDU/W5K.

All-Alumni Breakfast: Honoring Alpha Chi & Golden Shears

  • 9:30 a.m. – Lou’s Place
  • All alumni are invited as we honor Alpha Chi and Golden Shears members and recognize the 50-year “Golden” anniversary class of 1967. Golden anniversary alumni are invited to this breakfast free of charge! University President Frederick G. Slabach will also give an update on the latest developments at Texas Wesleyan.

George Grammer: Full Circle

  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m. – Bernice Coulter Templeton Studio
  • Stop by the old Polytechnic Firehouse, recently renovated into the Bernice Coulter Templeton Art Studio, to view the works of George Grammer '47.
  • Grammer was the youngest member inducted into the Fort Worth Circle and has been featured at the For Worth Community Arts Center, the Dallas Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

TXWES Football Q&A

  • 11 a.m. – West Library
  • Coach Prud'homme and members of his coaching staff will share about the upcoming Rams football season.
  • You can also check out the new athletic weight room and view the donor brick walkway.

Pre-Game Cookout

  • 12-2 p.m. – Canafax Clock Tower
  • Join us for Coburn's Catering, blue and gold margaritas, music and more.
  • The decade with the greatest showing will get a special shout out at the spring Blue & Gold football game so tell your classmates to come!
  • Bring your own lawn chairs and coolers and make it a tailgate!

Rams Baseball Game

  • 1 & 3 p.m. - Sycamore Park
  • Watch the Rams baseball team take on Southwestern Assemblies of God University in a doubleheader at Sycamore Park, just down the street from campus.

Blue & Gold Game Transportation

  • 2-3 p.m. & 5-6 p.m. - Parking Lot D (next to Morton Fitness Center)
  • Bus transportation to and from the Blue & Gold will be provided from 2-3 p.m. and for one hour following the game.

Blue & Gold Football Game

  • 3 p.m. - Farrington Field
  • Come take a first look at your Rams Football Team in action at the spring game as they get ready for the upcoming football season.

Dinner: Islanders Food Truck

  • 5:30-7 p.m.
  • Grab a bite to eat at the Islanders food truck before you head to your next event. Hawaiian style eats, owned by a Texas Wesleyan alumna.

School of Natural and Social Sciences Reception

  • 6 p.m. - Lou's Place
  • Visit with Dean, Ricardo Rodriguez, Ph.D., faculty members and fellow alumni where you'll hear the latest program developments. This school includes Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, History, Mathematics, Paralegal Studies, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology. Heavy hors d'oeuvres and beverages provided.

Encore Pre-Show Party

  • 6 p.m. – Thad Smotherman Theatre
  • Hang out with theatre alumni and members of Wesleyan Encore for wine and cheese before the musical performance. Bryan Stevenson, associate professor and chair of the theatre department, will be on hand to discuss the set and lighting design and share some behind the scenes insights.

School of Education Reception

  • 6:30 p.m. - Dan Waggoner Hall
  • Visit with fellow graduates and Dr. Carlos Martinez, dean of the School of Education, at this year’s reception. 

Movie on the Hill

  • 7:30 p.m. – Dora's Dining Hall
  • If musicals aren’t your “thing,” bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the hilarious, classic movie, Young Frankenstein, on the hill by Dora's Dining Hall. Feel free to bring your own coolers and lawn games.

63rd Annual Musical Urinetown

  • 7:30 p.m. – Thad Smotherman Theatre
  • Come to alumni night at the musical and enjoy Theatre Wesleyan’s production of Urinetown - winner of three Tony Awards®, Urinetown is a hilarious musical satire. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanities most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he's had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom!

Afterglow at the Clock Tower

  • 9:30 p.m. – Sid Richardson Plaza 
  • End the Alumni Reunion with a bang as we light up the University clock tower. Enjoy hors d'oeuvres, wine, music and dancing - sponsored by Charles Duke '53 and Joe Don Conger. You’ll also meet the cast from Urinetown as they join us after their performance.
