2017 Texas Wesleyan graduate thanks donors with an original song

07.10.2017 | By: Texas Wesleyan University

Texas Wesleyan has the best donors around, and we can’t thank them enough! Edward Fitzhugh, class of 2017 graduate and singer/songwriter, created something special to show his appreciation for everything University Donors have done for students like him.

“There were a couple of times where money was tight and it looked like I wasn’t going to get the financial help I needed to finish school," Fitzhugh, said. "Without the generosity of Texas Wesleyan’s donors, I would not have completed my degree. It is so encouraging to know that there are individuals in our community that don’t know me personally but want to give so that students like me can succeed. They are the inspiration for this song.”

Song Lyrics

Polytechnic Heights
Fort Worth Texas
There’s a place you want to be
There’s help for school
From amazing folks
Who wanna see me succeed
Private donors changed my life
Helped me get through school
All I really have to say is
Texas Wesleyan rules
I got my golden ticket
I got my education
Because of some amazing souls
Who care how much I learn and grow
Thank you
For all you do
Thank you
We depend on you
Because of your generosity
We now live happily
Thank you
