Where:
Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning

Join us for the first of three virtual discussion groups that we’ll host in Blackboard Collaborate during the Spring of 2018.

This month, participants will discuss the lecture, which is a strategy well-suited to sharing knowledge with students who are new to a particular topic or field of study (i.e., in courses heavy on content coverage). Our pre-discussion “reading” will be a recording of a workshop led by Dr. Christine Harrington, who recently published a book titled, "Dynamic Lecturing."

During the discussion, you and your colleagues will discuss questions such as the following:

  • Which of the strategies are you most likely to use and why
  • What other strategies you’ve used to ensure students are critically engaged during lectures
  • Roadblocks to implementing micro-activities in the lecture

Join us Feb. 21 individually or as a department to contribute to the dialogue!

Facilitator: Natalie Parker
