Provides high school students with many pre-collegiate services, such as basic information about college, SAT/ACT test preparation, the college application process, and financial aid information. Acts as a facilitator to help students attend the college of their choosing and attends DFW area college fairs as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help achieve a college-going culture by supporting GO Centers at Castleberry HS, Crowley HS, North Crowley HS, the Bill R. Johnson Career & Technology Center, and O.D. Wyatt.
  • Assist students with college application process
  • Assist students with financial aid information
  • Assist students with SAT/ACT test preparation
  • Assists with college fairs and classroom presentations
  • Other duties or projects assigned 
  • Must be able to attend regular trainings and meetings

 
QUALIFICATIONS

College students needed who desire to mentor and train high school students and assist them in pre-collegiate services so that they are prepared to attend college.  College students of any classification, with a minimum GPA of 2.75; prefer first generation college students.  All applicants are required to be in good standing, in accordance with Texas Wesleyan’s Registrar’s Office.

Training is providing upon hiring.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

Earned college credit hours and/or experience working in an educational setting preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Must have reliable transportation

Required to go through a background check with Fort Worth ISD, Castleberry ISD, and Crowley ISD.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
