IT Academic Services at Texas Wesleyan is working with Blackboard (Bb) Managed Hosting in order to upgrade its Learning Management System (LMS) environment to the Q4 2017 release of Blackboard Learn 9.1.
Texas Wesleyan’s Blackboard environment will be unavailable to all users during the following maintenance window:
9 p.m. (CDT) on Saturday, July 7 - 9 a.m. (CDT) on Sunday, July 8

Blackboard regularly releases upgraded versions of the Bb Learn 9.1 learning management system each year. These upgrades consist of bug fixes as well as feature enhancements.
Upgrades are a part of almost every software program, the intention of which is to provide increased security and improved functionality. Periodic upgrades also ensure that a fully supported version of an application and related features are in use. With this in mind, upgrading is less a matter of if, but when.
Core tool functionality within Blackboard Learn 9.1 remains largely unchanged, though faculty will benefit from improved features new to the Q4 2016, Q2 2017, and Q4 2017 releases as well as fixes to known issues in Q2 2016. There will be a few minor cosmetic and functional changes to certain tools, but students should be able to move seamlessly from version 9.1 Q2 2016 without training.
