Office 2016 is coming to an office near you
The Office of Information Technology knows that staying up-to-date on the most current software is important. Because of this, we are happy to announce that the Office suite will be upgraded to the 2016 version on Friday, May 27. Some new features to look forward to are:
- Collaboration in the cloud
- Modern attachments in Outlook
- Improved autosuggest search
- Share button in ribbon in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- New chart types
Office 2016 will be available for early adoption on Thursday, May 12. If you would like to access this free software upgrade prior to May 27th, please reboot your computer and then follow these 5 easy steps:
Step 1: Locate the "New software available" pop up in your icon tray
Step 2: Click on "Microsoft Office Professional Plus"
Step 3: Click on "Install"
Step 4: Allow time for Microsoft Office 2016 to install
Step 5: Click "Restart" to complete your installation
*Please note that existing shortcuts to previous versions of Office will no longer work once Office 2016 is installed and will have to be re-added in the taskbar. Certain customized settings may revert to default and need to be reconfigured to fit individual needs.
In addition, Office 2016 will prompt for Office 365 credentials the first time an application is opened. You may cancel it for now. Office 365 will be available in June and more instructions are to come.
