Campus-wide technology services interruption and power outage
Technology Services Interruption
On Friday, Oct. 14 the technology team will be shutting down the DataCenter. This is a secure location on campus where internal servers, storage, telephony, network or specialized equipment is housed. The shutdown is necessary because of an error condition on a piece of power supply equipment.
The shutdown will begin at 9 p.m. Friday evening. We will have the full infrastructure technology team as well as several vendors available to assist during the maintenance window. We expect to have all system functionality restored by 8 a.m. Saturday morning. If there are any complications or delays, we will reach out to the faculty and staff members that have planned activities on Saturday to keep them updated.
At 5 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 16 there will be an Oncor power outage to the campus area noted in the communication sent to everyone on campus. This outage is specifically related to the “Way Services Utility Conservation Initiative” which is a part of our 2020 campus improvement initiative. The goal is to have power restored by 9 a.m. and any impacted technology services re-enabled as soon as possible after. Again, if there are any complications or delays we will reach out to the faculty and staff that have planned activities on Sunday to keep them updated.
During either maintenance window if you need to contact the Security Department and the university phone system is not functioning, please call 817-301-8070 (Security) directly via the security supervisor’s cell phone.
