They can provide guidance and advice based on your resume and where you want it to take you. And if you aren’t even sure what field you want to work in, they can help with that too.
Job searching can take a long time and it involves a few aspects. Start all of them early. Resumes, cover letters, interviewing techniques – start working on these well before you plan to get an interview.
Great, they like your resume and want to interview you. You now have a foot in the door, but that doesn’t help if you aren’t wearing the right shoes. Being well dressed for your interview shows you are professional and are taking the interview seriously. It also helps people imagine you in that role if you’re already dressed for the job. Because it is a test. Yeah, you don’t know what questions you’ll be asked, but prepare for them. Make a list of questions you could be asked, then write your answers.
Write down everyone’s name that was a part of your interview. The next day, mail them a hand-written thank you card. It may make the difference between you and another candidate – it certainly doesn’t hurt your chances.
