Texas Wesleyan University – along with community leaders, alumni, students, faculty and staff – will celebrate the formal inauguration of President Frederick G. Slabach on Friday, Jan. 27, on the historic campus. Slabach became the 20th president of Texas Wesleyan on Jan. 1, 2011.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright will deliver the keynote address at the ceremony, which begins at 11 a.m. in the parking lot by the Oneal-Sells Administration Building. Dr. Albright served as the 64th Secretary of State from 1997 to 2001 and now serves as chair of Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm. She serves as president of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation and is a professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. Dr. Albright is also the author of four New York Times bestsellers.

“This is a seminal moment in the history of Texas Wesleyan University,” said Kenneth H. Jones, Jr., chairman of the Board of Trustees for Texas Wesleyan University. “Since taking office in January, President Slabach has drafted a new strategic plan for the University that builds on our strong foundation of values and ethics and ensures that our academic programs lead to exceptional professional and career preparation.”
