Orientation season kicks off with record-high turnout

Texas Wesleyan’s first two orientation sessions of the summer have seen record turnouts.

Ninety percent of students who registered for the freshman orientation session on June 12 were in attendance with their families and registered for fall classes. The first transfer student orientation session, which took place on Saturday, June 21, saw 78 percent of registered students in attendance.

“The energy level is high – we are off to a record start and still have several more orientation sessions to go,” Director of Advising and News Student Services Amanda Novak said. “We are looking forward to continuing to welcome new freshman and transfer students, and their families, throughout the summer."

This year’s group of Orientation Leaders, which for the first time is comprised of all students, aim to help new students feel connected to the university and their peers from the start.

During orientation, new students meet with advisors, select fall courses and hear advice from the Dean of Freshman Success, Joe Brown. Students also meet with various departments across campus, including Housing, Financial Aid, Student Life, Career Services and Human Resources, to name a few.

Parents have their own special sessions to help them better understand their student’s first year of college.

There are several more orientation sessions for new students, transfer students and Burleson site students that will take place throughout the summer. Visit the orientation page for more information about upcoming dates and how to sign up for a session.

Welcome new Rams!
